Nine-Tailed Fox, Legendary Character in Japan, Korea, and China


The Nine-Tailed Fox character, we can find in many films, animations/anime, and written works (Comic, novels) in many countries in Asia, especially Japan, China, and Korea, both fiction and historical myth. 

For example, in Korea there are:
1. Forbidden Love (2004)
2. My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (2010)
3. Grudge: The Revolt of Gumiho (2010)
4. The Thousandth Man (2012)
5. Gu Family Book (2013)
6. Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020)
7. My Roommate is a Gumiho (2021)

In China there are:
1. Legend of Nine Tails Fox (2016)
2. The Queen (2021)
3. The Blue Wisper
4. Jiang Ziya (Animation/Donghua) and many more.

In Japan specifically has a historical myth about the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit called Kitsune. Kitsune (狐, , IPA: [kitsu͍ne] ( listen)) is the Japanese term for a fox. In Japanese folklore, foxes are often featured in various stories as intelligent creatures whose magical abilities become more perfect as the fox gets wiser and older.

There are so many Japanese films and anime in which there are characters who adopt Kitsune characters, including :
1. Inuyasha – Inuyasha
2. Kokkuri-san – Gugure Kokkuri-san
3. Gintarou – Gingitsune
4. Tomoe – Kamisama Hajimemashita
5. Kungen Tenko – Wagaya no Oinari-sama
6. Yukikaze Panettone – Dog Days
7. Hishamaru – Tokyo Ravens
8. Holo – Ookami to Koushinryou
9. Senko – Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san
10. Haruhime Sanjouno – DanMachi
11. Kyubi - Naruto
